CMP012 (PYP) – Computer Orientation II
Credits: 1 (0,2,0) - Prerequisite: CMP011
This course complements the CMP011 course. Its main objective is to provide students with
the advanced computer skills which they need to use during their university study and
future careers. The course covers some advanced topics in Presentation tools and
introduces database concepts and how to use Database Management System tools. It is a
lab-based course. Hence, students are expected to learn by doing.
PDS
PDS001(PYP) – Personal Development Skills I
Credits: 1 (1,0,0) - Prerequisite: None
Personal Development Skills courses help develop basic competencies and soft skills that
students need in their day-to-day academic and personal life. The theme of PDS 001 is
‘College Transition’ – how a new student can quickly and effectively adjust to the demands
of undergraduate university life. Course facilitators promote the application, understanding
and appreciation of participants’ roles as active, engaged and responsible learners in a
college context. Core skills covered at the 001 level are: goal setting & planning your study
at a University, effective time management, understanding our learning preferences,
teamwork, participating in discussions, reflective writing, and giving oral presentations.
PDS002 (PYP) – Personal Development Skills II
Credits: 1 (1,0,0) - Prerequisite: PDS001
This course will be offered in a blended format using teaching and learning activities which
use information communications technologies such as learning management systems (LMS)
and the Internet, significantly reducing the scheduled face-to-face lecture and tutorial time.
You will be working with a Web-based learning management system called Moodle (LMS)
which will be introduced during the first stages of the course. Materials and assignments
will be provided through this PDS course site. Discussion groups will be formed and as a
member you will participate in online conference sessions with others. You will also be
expected to use email to respond to the course instructor and other students about assigned
topics. The main purpose of this course is to help students to continue to make the
adjustment from high school to academic life at university level. Core skills covered in this
course include career exploration, critical thinking, and Information literacy skills.

PEOO1 Preparatory Physical Education I
Credits: 1 - Prerequisite: None
The course is designed to introduce and provide the theories and practical skills in health
and fitness. Its aim is to develop well-rounded individual that values positive character and
physical skills that leads to improve creativity, high self-esteem, healthy and fit body. It
maintains balance theoretical and practical components that focus on holistic attitude to
Health and Physical Education.
