AVM480 Trends in Air Transportation
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: AVM340, AVM350
The course offers an overview of existing trends and issues in air transportation along with those
on the horizon. At the global level current issues such as fuel costs, customer care and satisfaction,
challenges posed by profitability and security, competition within the industry, together with a
look at advances in technology and their impact are covered. On the local level, issues unique to
Saudi Arabia – e.g. travel of pilgrims to Holy sites, study the impact of air transport on the Saudi
and regional economies, etc. are also discussed.
AVM492 Cooperative Education (Co-op)
Credits: 10 Prerequisites: Consent of the Department of Aviation Management
The Co-op is a career-related professional program available to all Aviation Management students.
It is designed to help students build on skills already learned in the classroom and acquire new
ones as well. Co-Op education is available to AVM students who have accumulated the requisite
number or more credits. The Co-Op option counts for 10 credit hours (CRs) for practical onsite
experience over a 7-month period, i.e. spanning one semester and a summer.
AVN291 Air Transport Geography [Non-Business Elective]
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: None
This course offers to learn about the impact of the movement of people, goods, and ideas through
air transport on modern society. In particular, the impact on modern society is approached from
various aspects such as politics, economy, society, environment, and technology. The course also
introduces the concepts and tools of air transportation geography and exposes the actual practice
of such concepts and tools through analysis of cases, and interactive exercises. - Students will be
involved in active learning rather than just being a part of the instructor-led lectures. - Students
will be asked to bring some practical case studies research on the social impact. - Students will be
discussing social, cultural, technological, geopolitical, and environmental influences by air
transportation.
AVN292 Aviation and Tourism [Non-Business Elective]
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: None
Given the importance of both aviation and tourism driving the global economy, this course
discusses the interconnectivity of aviation and tourism, and how this drives our everyday lives.
The connections between aviation and tourism will be explored in a non-technical way through
lectures and case studies.
BCE409 E-Business Implementation
Credits: 3 (3,0,1) Prerequisites: Junior Level
The primary objective of this course is to introduce concepts, tools and approaches to electronic
business. Further, the subject will help the students to develop skills to manage businesses in the
digital world. The course will cover the foundations of E-Business systems and infrastructure
required to set up an E-business. In addition, the course will focus on the functional areas enabled
by E-Business such as Value Chain, ERP and SCM highlighting the significance of CRM and business
intelligence in E-Business Systems. The course provides a balanced approach including concepts
from technology and management. Hands-on experience with enterprise systems, such as SAP S/4
Hana, is an integral element of the course.
