HRM304 Performance Management and Appraisal
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: BUS201, HRM301
This course aims to provide both a conceptual and practical study of Performance Appraisal and
Management. This Course examines the importance of an effective performance management
system in helping organizations define and achieve short- and long-term goals. It explains and
reinforces the concept that performance management is not a one -time supervisory event, but
an ongoing process of planning, facilitating, assessing, and improving individual and organizational
performance. In addition, the course emphasizes the importance of measuring the effectiveness
of human resource activities that are designed to enhance individual and organizational.
HRM305 Compensation and Benefits
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: HRM301
This course examines the full range of compensation topics with emphasis on how compensation
systems will likely impact productivity, equity, and the organization’s ability to recruit and retain
highly skilled and committed employees. Topics include job analysis; job description; equity issues
and requirements; design and use of wage and salary surveys; performance, merit and incentive
pay systems; statutory and no -statutory employee benefit packages and systems; and
administration of compensation systems.
HRM373 Human Resource Information Systems
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: HRM301
The course is designed to allow students to investigate the complex field of HRIS and how
communication in organizations are facilitated by existing structures and process, methods for
improving communication flow and facilitate technology implementations.
HRM374 Organizational Development and Change
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: BUS 231, HRM301
This course is designed to provide the students with the most important concepts and processes
of organizational development and change. This course focuses on building the organization’s
ability to assess its current functioning and to achieve its goals. Some specific topics of this course
include diagnosing organizations, groups and jobs; leading and managing change; resistance to
change; implementing change; communicating change; and sustaining change.
HRM375 Human Resource Development
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: BUS 231, HRM301
The course aims to build an insight into theory and practice of human resource development
(HRD). It will expose students to the issues, techniques and skills associated specifically with the
training and development function in the organizations. This interactive course focuses on
strategies for assessing HRD needs, designing, implementing and evaluating training and
organizational development efforts that positively impact on the employee and organizational
performance. This course also discusses performance management, coaching, career
development, organization development and change.
HRM440 Human Resource Management Consulting
Credits: 3 (3,0,0) Prerequisites: BUS 231, HRM301
This course is designed to initially overview the consulting profession with a subsequent emphasis
on organization consulting issues. Effort will be placed on developing proficiencies in a range of
skills required to practice consulting. The course is relevant to the HR program as their future jobs
involve staff consulting or line management consultations.
