Every year, Stanford University releases a database of the world’s
top 2% of scientists. The database, created by experts at Stanford,
is based on data from Elsevier’s Scopus database. The database
includes the top 2% of scientists in 22 scientific fields and 176
subfields and provides standardized information on citations,
h-index, coauthors hip-adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in
different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.
The list can be distinguished into two categories: career-long
achievements and single-year achievements:
● Stanford’s World’s Top 2% Scientists for Career-Long
Achievements – This category ranks scientists all over the globe
for their scientific outputs from the beginning of their careers
until 2022.
● Stanford’s World’s Top 2% Scientists for Single-Year
Achievements – This category ranks scientists all over the globe
for their scientific outputs in 2022.
Previously, 16 researchers from Prince Sultan University were
featured in one or both categories in 2021 and only 6 researchers
made it in one or both categories in 2020.
For 2022, twenty-seven researchers from PSU have been featured
in one or both categories of this prestigious list of scientists:
Nine scientists were featured in the career-long achievements
category and twenty-six scientists were featured in the single-
year achievements category!
With respect to their Career-Long Achievements, the list includes
the following researchers:
1. Prof. Thabet Abdeljawad of CHS
2. Prof. Ahmad Azar of CCIS
3. Prof. Wasfi Shatanawi of CHS
4. Prof. Mohamed Bououdina of CHS
