Welcome to the opening ceremony of PSU 7th Regional Translation Competition 2021 at the university virtual auditorium. The ceremony is broadcasted from Prince Sultan University includes the opening word from PSU President Dr. Ahmed Yamani, competition regulations, and the list of participating universities. The Competition: Consecutive Interpretation Track

In this track, a group of 3 students listens to 3 clips in Arabic and 3 in English and take turn to consecutively interpret afterwards. The live interpretation is judged on completeness, equivalence, pronunciation & intonation, and presentation. The competition lasts for around 4 hours. The clips are different for each university but they are from similar lengths and topics. The referees will evaluate the students’ interpretation and decide on the universities and students ranked in the top three places. .

The Competition: Written Translation Track

In this track, a group of 3 students from each competing university translate two texts in Arabic and English. They are judged on completeness, equivalence, mechanics and style/readability. The competition lasts for 2 hours. The referees will evaluate the students’ work and decide on the universities and students ranked in the three winners on both the individual and the collective tracks.

Translation Exhibition

In this unique event, universities display short videos presenting their translation work in terms of students’ translation projects, dubbed clips, magazines, translation clubs…etc. In addition to universities the exhibit includes other entities that are concerned with the field of translation like libraries, organizations and language institutes. In this exceptional opportunity, the exhibitors display their published books and offered information to the visitors on their training programs, employment opportunities and cultural activities.

Closing Ceremony

Welcome to the closing ceremony of PSU 7th Regional Translation Competition 2021 at the university virtual auditorium.
