Promotion through Standardized International Examinations

            Conditions and limitations:


            Students who join PSU with a valid (less than two-years old) TOEFL, IELTS,
            SAT,  or  IGCSE  score  will  be  placed  according  to  the  schema  on  the  previous
            pages.


            IELTS/TOEFL-IBT cannot be used as entry criteria to promotion tests except in
            the  following  circumstance.    Any  student  with  an  official  document  which
            satisfies  the  promotion  score  criteria,  but  is  more  than  two  years  old  will  be
            eligible to sit the promotion test, but will not be automatically promoted.

            Only the ACADEMIC IELTS will be considered for exemption from any PYP
            English course. The general IELTS is not accepted.

            All  submitted  scores  must  be  from  a  single  test  and  presented  on  a  single
            document (no combinations of separate test scores will be admissible)

            Only one submission of an international exam for the purposes of exemption will
            be allowed per semester with a maximum of two submissions for the duration of
            a student’s PSU career.

            All IELTS certificates must be validated using the ‘IELTS Verification Service’

            A  student  who  has  previously  received  an  ‘F’  or  a  ‘DN’  grade  in  any  PYP
            English  course  at  Prince  Sultan  University  cannot  promote  out  of  that  course
            using international examinations.

            IGCSE scores will be considered only if the student has satisfied the Ministry of
            Education policy of a minimum twelve years of schooling.

            Registering courses with IENG 001 and IENG 002:

            Students who pass either IENG 001 or IENG 002 will be eligible to register CMP,
            PDS, or PE courses. Students who are registered in both IENG 001 and IENG 002
            will not be allowed to register for any other courses.
