I am greatly honored and humbled to serve as the Rector of Prince Sultan University. Founded in 1999 by the Al-Riyadh Philanthropic Society for Science, Prince Sultan University is the first private university in the Kingdom. Its commitment to meeting the rapidly changing needs of the marketplace has never changed. The burgeoning increase in the Saudi population and the consequent huge demand for higher education that prompted the establishment of the University also continues as does the need for highly qualified university graduates. PSU has and will continue to meet this need.
Our firm commitment to provide the highest quality undergraduate programs has produced quality graduates in the fields of business, computer and information sciences, English, interior design and law. We are confident that PSU alumni will play leading roles in the coming generations of professionals in the Kingdom in the realms of business, IT, international affairs, the arts and jurisprudence.
Now in its second decade, the University is preparing to expand. Starting in the Fall of 2011 the range of PSU degree programs will grow once the launch of three new colleges: College of Engineering (CE), College of Architecture and Design (CAD), and College of Languages and Translation (CLT) is finalized. The first will be on the Men's Campus and will offer degrees in Engineering Management and Communications and Network Engineering. The Women's Campus will house the CAD and CLT. The first will feature programs in Architecture, Interior Design and Graphic Design; the second bachelor degrees in Translation, Applied Linguistics and Computational Linguistics.
And as the catalog of degree options grows so too will the infrastructure: the
buildings and facilities on the PSU adjoining campuses. Work has already begun
on the King Salman Center for Local Governance and a new building for the
Women's Campus will soon follow. I invite you all to stop by our campuses and
watch them grow. Better yet for those of you nearing college age, I would like
you to come and become a part of the University. As we did throughout our first
decade, we will continue to provide the youth of the Kingdom with a passage way
to a future filled with challenges, opportunities and adventure. For more
