An overview of a database management system, architectures and components of relational database management system. It gives students hands on the following areas of database management:

•      Identifying various components of a typical relational database architecture

•      Creating an operational database

•      Managing database files, tablespaces, segments, extents, and blocks

•      Managing Storage

•      Managing indexes

•      Maintaining data integrity

•      Managing database security

•      Managing backup and recovery

•      Optimizing queries and transactions

•      Loading data into databases
